Yes — but at far fewer warehouses than most people assume, and the odds depend almost entirely on which country you are standing in. In today’s feed, 63 of the 570 Costco fuel stations in the United States posted a diesel price. That is roughly 11% of them, spread across 21 states. Cross the Atlantic and the picture inverts: every one of the 21 Costco forecourts in the UK sells diesel, as does every Australian site.
We rebuild this site from a daily price feed covering every Costco fuel station in six countries, so the lists below are not a scrape of a years-old directory — they are which warehouses actually posted a diesel price on the most recent build. Worth saying plainly up front: that is a good proxy for “sells diesel,” not a perfect one. A station that carries diesel but did not report a price that day will not appear here.
Diesel availability by country
The single most useful thing to understand is that “does Costco have diesel?” is really six different questions with six different answers.
| Country | Fuel stations | Selling diesel | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | 21 | 21 | 100% |
| Australia | 14 | 14 | 100% |
| New Zealand | 1 | 1 | 100% |
| United States | 570 | 63 | 11% |
| Canada | 78 | 6 | 8% |
| Mexico | 19 | 0 | 0% |
Across all six countries that is 105 diesel-selling forecourts out of 703. The lopsidedness tracks what people drive. Diesel is a mainstream passenger-car fuel in Britain and a default for utes and 4WDs in Australia, so a forecourt without it would be missing a huge slice of demand. In North America diesel is overwhelmingly a pickup, RV and commercial fuel, and Costco’s warehouses sit in suburban retail parks rather than on freight corridors. A diesel tank at a US warehouse also costs something real: underground tank capacity given over to diesel is capacity not selling the gasoline that moves far faster through a Costco forecourt.
Mexico is the clean case. Costco México answers the question directly in its member help centre — asked whether its gas stations sell diesel, the reply is “No, sólo vendemos gasolina Kirkland Signature Regular y Kirkland Signature Premium”. Our feed agrees: zero of the 19 Mexican Costco gasolineras post a diesel price.

Two states carry the American network. California and Washington together account for 28 of the 63 — nearly half. After those two the count falls off a cliff: 11 states have exactly one diesel-selling Costco in the entire state, and 16 have no more than two.
The states with Costco fuel but no Costco diesel
The absences are as useful as the list above, because several are large states where drivers reasonably assume diesel is available. 26 states and territories have at least one Costco gas station and no diesel price at any of them today. The biggest fuel networks among them:
- Florida — 33 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- Illinois — 23 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- New Jersey — 19 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- Georgia — 16 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- Virginia — 15 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- Minnesota — 13 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- Pennsylvania — 11 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
- North Carolina — 10 Costco fuel stations, none posting diesel
Florida, Illinois and New Jersey between them run 75 Costco forecourts without a single diesel pump reporting. If you drive a diesel in Florida, Costco is simply not part of your fuel plan.
This is also where third-party roundups and our feed diverge, and the gap is worth naming. Published state-by-state lists still name states such as Illinois, Indiana, New Jersey, New York and Virginia as having Costco diesel, where we see no diesel price at all. Costco has quietly withdrawn diesel from individual sites over the years — the same reporting notes Nebraska appearing to have lost its diesel pumps entirely, and Costco has never published a reason for the closures. Long-running owner-forum threads trace the same pattern, with the widely repeated explanation being that low-turnover sites lost the fuel. Treat any static list, including a state name you remember from years ago, as a hypothesis to confirm.
What Costco diesel costs
Averaging the diesel price across the 63 US stations that sell it gives $5.391/gal — and that number is close to useless, because the network is concentrated in expensive states. Split it and you can see the distortion: 36 of these warehouses are in the West, averaging $5.912/gal, while the 27 everywhere else average $4.696/gal. Today the spread runs from Costco Menomonee Falls at $3.999/gal to Costco Kona at $6.999/gal.
The comparison that survives geography is the gap between diesel and regular at the same pump. Across the 63 US warehouses selling both today, the median diesel premium is $1.00 a gallon. It is never negative — at every single one of them, diesel costs more than regular. The two extremes land on the same warehouses as the price range above: the narrowest gap is 44 cents at Costco Menomonee Falls, the widest $1.80 at Costco Kona. Cheap diesel and a narrow premium travel together, because both are mostly telling you about state fuel taxes rather than about Costco.
For context, the US Energy Information Administration put the national retail diesel average at $4.57 a gallon in early July 2026 against $3.777 for regular gasoline — a national gap of about 79 cents. Costco’s same-station gap sitting a little wider than that is mostly the West Coast weighting again: California diesel carries state-specific fuel requirements and low-carbon programme costs that regular gasoline shoulders differently.
Outside the United States
United Kingdom — all 21 forecourts
Every Costco petrol station in Britain sells diesel, and it is the one market where that is unremarkable rather than notable. Today the cheapest is Costco Sheffield at 155.9p/L. UK pumps are members-only — membership is checked at the barrier before you reach the nozzle — and the site lists every British Costco forecourt with today’s petrol and diesel.
Australia — all 14 sites, premium diesel only
Australia is the other market with complete coverage, with a wrinkle worth knowing: Costco Australia sells premium diesel and does not stock a standard diesel grade. The third grade alongside Premium 98 varies by state — E10 at the Queensland and New South Wales sites, standard Unleaded 91 at the Victorian, Western Australian, South Australian and ACT ones. All of them are on the Australian station list, and New Zealand’s single Westgate warehouse in Auckland sells diesel too.
New Zealand throws up the one place on this site where diesel is routinely cheaper than petrol at the pump, and it is a tax artifact rather than a bargain. Petrol there carries fuel excise duty of around 70 cents a litre, while diesel is essentially excise-free at the nozzle; diesel drivers instead buy road user charges by distance from NZTA. The Ministry of Transport publishes both rates. The pump price is genuinely lower; the cost per kilometre is not the same thing.
Canada — 6 of 78
Canada looks more like the US than like Britain. Only 6 of the 78 Canadian Costco fuel stations post a diesel price, scattered across 5 provinces — the Canada tab in the finder above lists all of them.
Note what is missing: the Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver and Montreal proper. Costco Canada’s diesel sits in Grande Prairie, Prince George, Saskatoon — resource and agricultural towns — plus single sites on the edge of Ontario and Quebec. That is a network shaped by who actually drives diesel, not by population.
What you are actually buying
Where Costco does sell diesel, it sells it under the Kirkland Signature name, and the specification is better than the price suggests. It is ultra-low-sulfur diesel meeting the US 15 ppm sulfur cap, and Costco states that Kirkland Signature Diesel has been certified to meet TOP TIER performance standards and is formulated with deposit-control additives to keep injectors clean and protect fuel-system components.
The detail worth knowing is that the EPA has never mandated deposit-control additives in diesel the way it does for gasoline — Costco adds them anyway. That is the same logic behind its gasoline, which the company’s fuel promise says carries five times the EPA’s minimum detergent requirement. Costco has been selling fuel since 1995, when the first station opened in Tucson, and blends its additive package at the station during delivery rather than buying pre-additised fuel.
Before you drive there
A few things that catch diesel drivers out, none of which are obvious from a map pin:
- Membership is required at the pump, everywhere. There is no pay-more-as-a-guest option for fuel. Card is checked at the reader or the barrier before you can dispense.
- The forecourt is built for cars, not rigs. Costco diesel islands are the same islands as the gasoline ones, in a busy warehouse car park with queues that back up. Long-hose layouts help, but a big fifth-wheel or a truck with a trailer can be genuinely hard to manoeuvre. RV owners routinely check satellite view before committing to a site.
- Filling auxiliary or portable tanks is often refused. Attendants apply fire-code rules on dispensing into portable containers, and members report being stopped from filling mounted transfer tanks even when plumbed into a trailer. Do not plan a trip around filling a spare tank.
- Fuel hours are not warehouse hours. The pumps generally open earlier and close later than the building. Each station page here lists its own gas-station hours alongside the price.
The reliable move is to check the specific warehouse rather than trusting a state-level rule of thumb, because Costco changes this quietly and a station that had diesel three years ago may not now. Every station page on this site shows which grades that warehouse is currently posting, refreshed daily — start from the US station list, or search your city for Costco gas prices here. If a diesel price is showing, that warehouse was selling diesel as of the most recent build.
